Judaism

Judaism was the first religion based on worship of one god only. It began in the Middle East during the Bronze age around 2,000 BCE. Jews believed that god selected them to set an example of ethical behavior for the world. The story of early Judaism is told in the first five books of the Hebrew bible called the Torah. The after life consists of Heaven and Hell. Their god’s name is JVH. Moses is credited as the founder of Judaism.

 

Hinduism

Hinduism came into being in ancient India around 1,500 BCE. It began as a set of traditions and rituals honoring various gods and goddess. Today, there are dozens of major gods, and hundreds of minor gods in modern Hinduism. The after life consists of reincarnation (rebirth) based on your actions in your current life called Karma. The Hindu religious book is called the Vadas. No one is sure of the Hindu founder.

 

Buddhism

 

Buddhism was as welled founded in ancient India. Its founder was Siddhartha Gautama, who became known as the Buddha or the “enlightened one.” The after life consists of reincarnation based on Karma and the individuals following of the Eight-Fold Path. Buddhism focuses on the individual not gods and goddess.  Their religious text is called the Tripitaka.

 

Christianity

 

All Christians are followers of the life and teachings of Jesus the Christ and belief in one god. They accept the Jewish testament called the Torah as well as a new testament combined called the Bible. Christian’s belief in the afterlife is Heaven or Hell.

 

Islam

 

Followers of the Islamic religion are called Muslims. Muslims believe in one god called Allah. Muslims study the teachings of Allah in a book called the Koran, and follow the Five Pillars of Islam: faith, prayer, charity, fasting and hajj. The founded of Islam is the based on the life and teachings of a prophet called Muhammad. The after life consists of Heaven or Hell.
